Sentence Variety and Modifier Placement |
|
This quiz was prepared by Kristin Zook, a student in Professor Karyn Hollis's Tutor Training course at Villanova University.
Directions: In this exercise, you are asked to provide modifiers in a variety of sentence positions. The sentence "base" is provided for you, but you have to write your own sentence and insert modifying phrases or clauses in certain positions relative to the text provided. For help with this assignment, review the section on Sentence Variety.
When you are finished with each sentence (or, if you wish, wait until you've done them all), click on "Grammar's Version," which will reveal how we might refurbish the sentence with modifiers. Don't cheat by looking at Grammar's Version first.
