I just discovered your site trying to work out capitalization with colons and brackets within quotation marks. And I found everything right here! Thanks so much for putting up this site. The Web is a great forum for ease of use in certain fields, and English grammar is surely one of them. It's something you're constantly needing to double check, but who wants to carry a reference book around in their back pocket all the time? It's also easier to click and scroll through a web page than to flip through an index and track down the correct book page. You've definitely been added to my list of favorite sites. Anyone who speaks and writes in English, for whatever reason (particularly people who care at all about doing it intelligently), should value this site. Thanks again!

I am the kind of person who reads Fowler's _Dictionary of Modern English Usage_ for fun. So I was very pleased to trip over this web site while searching for some information on that long-neglected art of diagramming sentences. An excellent reference to have available online; my thanks to Professor Darling and Capital for making it happen. Of possible interest: the reason I was trying to refresh my memory about sentence diagramming is because I'm writing a paper on the relation between natural language, programming language, and the language programmers use to talk about programming.

This is one awesome site, I havent found anything better anywhere, some sites had the explanations dicatated with more simplicity but thats not the point. I teach Community Day School grades 7th through 12th. My students have never written a term/research paper and I have never taught upper grades before. We are all in the dark; therefore I asked Jeves to help me to help them to set up a research paper and I found this web site. Once school re-opens on the 7th Jan., I will suggest to my students a visit to this web site.
